Julie Spite (aka Julie Jennings-Patterson) grew up in Tucson listening to oddball underground radio shows, reading music magazines and zines and secretly dubbing friends' mix tapes while they slept. These days she plays in a couple of bands, haunts the LPFM airwaves and sometimes writes about music.
Sweethearts of the Radio is the low power radio equivalent of every afternoon you've ever spent going down a musical rabbit hole with that one rabid music enthusiast friend we all have. The friend who tags you with video links to obscure songs by familiar bands, makes playlists to illustrate unfamiliar genres, and once nerdsplained Pet Sounds like they were defending a PhD dissertation. Each week Julie Spite dives deep into a topic, genre, band or music scene and aims to make you fall just a little bit in love with it. Or at least have a decent time trying. Thursdays from 3-5 pm on 99.1 FM Downtown Radio Tucson.
